StyleBook: Alexander Skarsgard as a perfume model - how does that feel?
Alexander Skarsgard: Excellent! This is my first campaign ever. Calvin Klein has never advertised a men’s fragrance with an actor. I’m pretty proud that I can be the first.
What did you think when you saw yourself for the first time in the commercial and in the campaign photos?
That everyone did a great job. I like the dark, mystical mood of the clip that reminds me of the German expressionist films like Fritz Lang. However, seeing it in Godzilla-size on a billboard is very strange.
The film tells the story of a chance encounter between a man and a woman. Who in the end seduces who remains open. Therefore: Mr. Skarsgard, are you privately a Lady Killer?
No, I’m Swedish. We are not the macho men, but for equal rights.
How was it working with Lara Stone, who also stars in the film?
Lara is a cool girl and incredibly funny. We shot two years earlier for “Vogue” in front of the lens of Peter Lindberg, by the way, a great photographer.
Please, answer honestly. Which part of Lara do you find especially sexy: her lips, her tooth gap or her breasts?

Beauty is not important for acting?
I think vanity is more of an obstacle to being a good actor. Imagine that you need to play an old character or fat, then you have quite a problem for a complacent person.
Would Eric Northman, your character from “True Blood”, carry “Encounter”?
I think a drop of blood behind the ear is more his thing.
And Alexander Skarsgard?
I like alluring, dark, woody odors. I am not one for fresh, citrusy fragrances, so it matches very well with me. But in general, I rarely use perfume. The smell of a person turns me on more.
Your memories of when you first used perfume?
I was 14 and wanted to smell really good for a school dance. A friend brought me different scents. I mixed it all and I sprayed myself from top to bottom. I thought that would be cool. It was not. Then I sat the rest of the evening alone and sad in a corner. A life lesson: Less is more!
What is your favorite smell?
My schnitzel last night smelled pretty damn cool!
And what scent do you not like?
I grew up in Stockholm, not far from a sausage factory. Unfortunately that did not smell of freshly grilled bratwurst, but pretty disgusting and putrid.

I do it constantly in movies and TV shows. So, no!

I had the pleasure to join the Calvin Klein Party thanks to my friend Jeffrey, who kindly took me along as his +1. The reason for the occasion was the launch of the new fragrance Encounter which took place at the SoHo House Berlin in attendance of none other than Alexander Skarsgard, the face of the new perfume…
We were escorted to a suite above, where we had the chance to interview Alexander Skarsgard. Later on we headed to the basement for the party. Alexander Skarsgard joined for couple of beers and chats. He is a super cute guy, friendly and über-chilled. A very laid back kinda guy.

Yesterday was the presentation of the new Encounter fragrance by Calvin Klein. The star and highlight of the evening was Alexander Skarsgård, the model of the campaign (you may know him from True Blood). First, we had the chance to interview him even though it was more a dialogue to which we should listen but not ask questions. But he told us everything he wanted us to know about the new campaign, his childhood and his opinion about Berlin. Afterwards, we went downstairs to the party where we could enjoy drinks and finger food plus a special Encounter cocktail which contained the same ingredients as the perfume and tasted surprisingly good. Alexander was there too. He is a very nice and cool person. When I asked him why he does not have a Facebook fan page which would be good for promoting himself, he told me that he does not want people to know everything about him.
